MR MS SANGHAVI
President, Bombay Bar Association
Mr Sanghavi, President of the Bombay Bar Association told the House of 45 members that he had known the late Mr K H Panchal since their days in law college. Mr Panchal was a man of a quiet disposition. He, Mr Sanghavi and Mr Dhru Mehta spent a lot of time together in those days.
Mr Panchal established his practice with a reputation as a straight and fair lawyer. He was extremely unassuming at all times. He had a sound professional background. On behalf of the Association, Mr Sanghavi extended his condolences to his family and to his son, Sanjay, a member of the Association and a practicing Advocate.
MR NN SURATI
Advocate
Mr Surati recalled that his association with the late Mr K H Panchal began in the High Court. He was a lawyer of the old school, and dealt with clients and courts with total rectitude. He was known never to charge fees till the work was finally completed. This often resulted in unscrupulous clients leaving him ‘high and dry’ but he expressed no rancour about such treatment. His sincerity and devotion to his work was unquestionable.
[Mr Surati himself passed away not a year later. A report on the condolence meeting for him is also available online.]
RESOLUTION
Mr Sanghavi then proposed the following resolution, which was duly seconded and passed unanimously.
“This House mourns the sad demise of Mr K H Panchal and expresses its heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
The House observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the deceased.
